Master Scuba Diver

The PADI Master Scuba Diver rating puts you in a class of distinction – writing your ticket to endless adventure and opportunities through the experience and scuba training that sets you apart.

 

You may also just take a class in any of these special interest fields for fun or just for the sake of learning.  Many of these specialty courses have special gear requirements.  Speak to your DIVE ARMY Staff to make sure you have all of the right equipment you need for any of these courses.

Who should consider this rating?

Join the best of the best in recreational scuba diving and live the dive life as a PADI Master Scuba Diver. The Master Scuba Diver rating places you in an elite group of respected divers who have earned this rating through both significant experience and scuba training. Fewer than two percent of divers ever achieve this rating. When you flash your Master Scuba Diver card, people know that you’ve spent time underwater in a variety of environments and had your share of dive adventures.

 

What You Will Learn

The PADI Master Scuba Diver course consists of five main phases over 8-9 days:

  1. DAN Diving Emergency Management Provider Program (1 day)

  2. Knowledge Development understand basic principles of Rescue Diver (1 day) - this can be in a classroom, by home study

  3. 10 Confined Water Dives into a pool to learn rescue scuba skills (1 day)

  4. Two Rescue Scenario Open Water Scuba Dives in the ocean/grotto/springs to review your skills and explore! (1 day)

  5. 10 to 15 Open Water Dives for Specialties Course (4-5 days) Browse the PADI Course.

 

Prerequisites
  • 12 years old (Note: 12-14 years old divers may earn Junior Master Scuba Diver certifications.)

  • PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)

  • Minimum of 35 logged dives (Note: diver will receive Master Scuba Diver certification after logged 50 dives.)​

 

Every diver, who is at least 12 years old, should aim for Master Scuba Diver.

The path starts with earning a PADI Open Water Diver certification, followed by PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certifications). You also need to earn five PADI Specialty Diver certifications and have logged a minimum of 50 dives.
